Hi Friends, Please meet a very special Golden Oldie who has a very sad story. We would love to give a BIG BIG hug and THANK YOU to Carolyne for coming to the rescue of Sophie. You are a true angel Carolyne! Welcome to the TGO family both of you!!!! love and licks Narla and Zoe xx Unfortunately, we have no idea how old SophieDog is. I rescued her from a busy road atop a railway crossing in Tamworth. She lay down in the middle of traffic where nobody even slowed down. I brought my car to a screeching halt; got out and ran to her. Like a madwoman, I stood in the middle of the road flailing my arms about and swearing at every driver who did not even have the courtesy to swerve away. Not knowing if she was injured, or if she might bite me, I bent down and lifted the poor, frightened animal into my arms. And the cars STILL did not stop around me. This beautiful girl came to me a dirty, emaciated, lame, flea-ravaged bag of bones; empty teats hanging almost to the ground; worn-down teeth and white tongue and gums from anaemia. She had so obviously experienced a hard life and was not microchipped. Three months of gentle, loving care later, she was recovered as best we could; but remained lame from debilitating arthritis. Three years later, she remains a treasured member of our home and happily co-exists with our seven rescued cats. She was a companion to our other beloved senior rescued Rusty TheWonderdog, until his sad passing early in 2014. Sophie is definitely showing signs of advanced age now and has experienced some worrying health issues. We keep her comfortable and try to provide her with the most loving retirement we can. She is SUCH a lovely, placid, sweet-tempered old darling and we are blessed with every remaining day we have with her. Thank you for allowing me to share her story....
