Hi Gilbert. This is just to give you an idea how, even China with abundance of jobs, is trying to protect its own citizens from been exploited. If you remember I have recruited a Malaysian as the Lab Engineer. Last Friday I submitted his application for a WP to work for us. I was told of the new Chinese requirements. I list four important ones. Applicant must be:- 30 years old and above Must possess a recognised degree related to his job Must have 3 years related working experience Company must prove his job cannot be done by a local Chinese. I hope our Minister for Manpower reads about this and learn something from the Chinese. They are protecting their citizens (esp. the PMETs) and making sure companies (esp. the foreign ones) pass on the knowledge and upgrade the locals to perform more important tasks. This in-turn generates vacancies for new graduates to come in. This is just what I experienced and heard. If you are going to published this, I hope you at least verify this with another source. I have to recruit a foreigner because it is extremely hard for me to find a local who can read/write good English that deals with technical stuff. Especially not in my area because it is so near to Shanghai and Suzhou . If there is a qualified person, he/she would have gone to work in Shanghai or Suzhou city, and not hide in small city. Most locals here only have good commercial English. Thank you. With best regards, Alan (PMET working in China for over ten years)
