Hi Guys, I have a problem with an oil leak! I had oil leaks when I brought the vehicle, a replacement oil return pipe from turbo cleared up one of them but I just cant work out the other so after some advice. From what I can see there is oil running from somewhere, when I got under the car today there was oil running half way down the outside of the bell housing on either side, meeting at the bottom and dripping onto the ground,I replaced the rear main seal recently whilst doing auto - manual conversion and the old seal surprisingly looked fine. I really cant work out how the oil would get on the outside of the gearbox because the gearbox is bolted tightly to the block with the sandwich plate ?? that said I cant really see any oil above this point ? I though a main seal would just leak straight down into the bottom of the bell housing right ??? I have put my hand down the back of the rocker cover and cant feel any oil, my hands certainly dont get dirty so i dont think the rocker cover seal is at fault, I have noticed an oily area between erg valve and throttle body (replaced tb seal etc. i cleaned everything when i did conversion 450kms ago and everything seemed ok for a little while it seems hot, whether it be the hot weather or the fact that Im driving it a lot more over the last week or so, if you pull up and leave overnight it will leave approx 4-5 50cent piece puddle of oil under neath :( Can someone please clarify if main seal was at fault should there be engine oil on out side of the box/bell housing running down ?
