Hi Guys, I have been asked the same question recently by a number of people about the use of supplements to assist in weight loss. Some have pointed out “SUPER FOODS” and tonics that give amazing results, others have asked the validity of weight loss shakes and meal replacements, and understandably, it’s very confusing. Let me just clear up a few things. Whilst changing your diet for a short term period to a variety of shakes / tonics and “natural” fruit drinks may result in some quick weight loss, some may even say considerable weight loss, its not a healthy way to shed those kilos. How many of us have tried something like this, only to put back the weight a short time later. The unfortunate truth is that there is no “Short cut” to weight loss. There is no magic drink or supplement that you can take to shed the pounds. It takes hard work. Calories (food) is energy in a chemical form. If you put this into your body, your body will use it, store it or pass it based on its composition. The simplest way of starting the process of weight loss is to start moving more, this will increase the energy used by your body and will leave less for storage and thusly, lose weight (i.e. fat not muscle) There are little variations that you can use to increase the effectiveness of diet and exercise but this is more in depth and will require professional input. In short, the best thing you can do to lose weight, and keep it off, is to change some of the bad food with good, nutrient rich food, and increase the amount of physical activity that you do each day, even if its just a 15-20 minute walk each morning. By doing this, you will not only be supporting your body in becoming healthier, you will also get fitter!! Exciting!!
