Hi Guys, Im teaching optimization to grade 11 students. We are creating inequalities and polygons of constraints. This is the question we are looking at... A company manufactures single and double seater kayaks. It builds up to 40 kayaks a day. It must build at most four times as many singles as doubles. Also, a minimum of 5 doubles and at least 10 singles must be built each day. If x is single kayaks and; y is double kayaks I am having a hard time explaining to them why the inequality created by the sentence It must build at most four times as many singles as doubles. is x ≤ 4y They see it as 4x ≤ y Ive tried and tried to explain it to them by rearranging the equations etc. but Im getting blank stares...Does anyone have any suggestion on how to explain this?? Or any resources that might help?? Thank you!!
