Hi HMBAA, We have THREE pep band opportunities for you all! Some - TopicsExpress

Hi HMBAA, We have THREE pep band opportunities for you all! Some of you have already signed up for these, others might have been waiting for more information... and here it is! We have information on the Canada Day gig, the NASCAR Summer Showdown Pep Band in Monroe, and a new one: the South Park Bridge Opening & Parade. Canada Day Gig: July 1 Only 8 seats left! For the upcoming July 1st Canada Day gig, even though we’ll be playing mostly the usual standards, out of respect for the fact that it is their country’s special holiday and since the city of Abbotsford is shelling out a considerable amount of money to bring us up, I thought it only fitting that we perform their national anthem during our stand-still performance after the conclusion of the parade. Also given that some of the listening audience may be of the age that they might not appreciate all pop tunes, I’ve also thrown in an easy version of 76 Trombones. Of course neither of these 2 tunes need to be memorized. Please visit HMBAA.org to print off your respective part. It’s a beautiful arrangement of O Canada and I look forward to spending a few minutes rehearsing both of these tunes with you at the rehearsal on the evening of Monday, June 30th(the night before we depart). Thanks everyone and see you soon! - Brad NASCAR Summer Showdown: June 28 The “Summer Showdown” is the largest NASCAR race on the West Coast at Evergreen Speedway in Monroe, on the Evergreen State Fairgrounds. This will take place on Saturday June 28 at 6:00pm. We would like as big of an alumni band as possible... 50 plus! The band would perform “Tequila” marching in before, then the National Anthem, and “Louie Louie” marching out. We would also give a concert of Husky favorites for the crowd, and then take our seats with free food and drinks. Band members are welcome to watch the race after we perform. There will be a large donation to our scholarship fund. Please sign up on HMBAA.org if youd like to participate. South Park Bridge Opening & Parade: June 29 We need you to help dedicate the New South Park Bridge in south Seattle. The ceremony will be on Sunday, June 29 at 4:00 for a short Parade 5/8 of a mile follow by Husky tunes for the large crowd expected. We will meet at 16th avenue South and East Marginal at 2:00 pm to give a pre-parade concert and then lead the parade over the new bridge. This bridge has been in the works for over 6 years and the workers and city officials are very excited to have the Husky Alumni band there. There will a beer garden and carnival like activities for us after the parade. TOC with khaki pants for the uniform and I will bring music and large instruments. Please sign up at HMBAA.org or send Stan an email Stansyantis@gmail with any special requests you might have. Go Dawgs! --Stan
