Cousin Ron Leake Perry Missouri “Enterprise” February 1947 Half-Century Together Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Hamill, Sr., long time residents of this community celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary by having their children and family present for the occasion Sunday. On account of the illness of Mr. Hamill they made it as quiet an affair as possible, not making it as large as intended. They were united in marriage, February 24th 1897 at St. Paul Catholic Church by the Most Reverend Father Shiels. Their attendants were Miss Annie May Leake, sister of the bride and James Elliott. They then moved to a rented farm and later lived on several different farms until they settled at their present home northeast of Perry in 1906 . It is here they spent their married life with their family of six children. Although Mr. Hamill has retired from active duty by turning his farms over to his two sons quite a while ago, he is still interested in looking after things when he is able. Not later than last fall he assisted in feeding the cattle and looking about to see things were moving along well. As for Mrs. Hamill, she is still very active by managing all her housework with some help from her son. She says she lays her good health to hard work and the pleasure she had in raising her large family, who have given them lots of pleasure in their old age. The Enterprise takes pleasure in congratulating our good friends, Mr. and Mrs. Hamill, on this important event in their lives. They have reader a fine family, have been loyal to their church and have been generous neighbors in the community in which they live.
