Hi I am TOTALLY new to this. I am in Missouri. My daughter has taken her MAP testing for this year already. She is in 4th grade. So there was NO time for me to OPT OUT. I just learned of this movement today. I did some research of my own and found this on a PDF through Google. Can parents or schools opt out of data collection? No. Data collection is an important tool in education. Data have been collected in Missouri since 1989. Data collection provides information that school districts need to determine student achievement levels, and it helps educators make decisions necessary to improve instruction and student learning. The information is used by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education to determine how well schools in Missouri are performing and identify schools that need improvement. The data are also used to help determine the accreditation of school districts and provide information to the public about how schools are performing. This is something that is published through Missouri Learning Standards! So is this a bullying tactic? I never liked the whole testing stuff even when I was a kid. I felt like I was stupid when when my tests came back below a certain area. Then it would be a huge fight with my mom that I wasnt doing good enough. ANY info would be greatly appreciated!
