Hi I am a final year masters student in English LIterature from Jadavpur University, Kolkata. For my final semester, I am doing a dissertation on the cultural change in the tea plantations of Assam. The tea gardens were dominantly colonial in their lifestyle and cultural practices even post 1950s. Gradually it starts getting more Indianized. I am trying to map the cultural change that takes place. Can you all help me by sharing some of your personal memories of the times that you have spent at the plantations. I want to know about the lifestyle and the culture..and how colonial /anti-colonial was it in its approach? I also want to know how the various clubs associated with these plantations go through a period of change. I want to know more about the shifting trends in tea culture. It would be of a lot of help if you could share some links or personal memories that would help me in my dissertation. Thank you so much.
