Hi! I am looking for opinions/advice, please! I know and understand that you are not doctors, but was wondering if anyone has a child like mine, and what diagnoses you may have gotten, if any. I have a 12 yr old son. He has always had speech delays, when he was younger he was developmentally delayed (outgrown that now), always had issues with sensory (noise, touch, space, pretty much any way possible), he still has problems saying or writing a complete sentence that makes since. We have taken him in the past for evaluations at a pediatric behavioral clinic, with no outcome. We just had an evaluation and diagnoses for Auditory Processing Disorder. The audiologist that tested him, told me that she highly recommends further testing for all of his other issues. When I asked what type of issues she was referring to, or what she thought was going on with him, she basically told me that she cant diagnose him with anything else, and he does have APD, but she knows he has some other issues going on. I have been going round and round with my son and doctors since he was 2 yrs old. My pediatric dr even keeps trying to send us back to the behavioral dr. Every time we go there, I end up paying close to $500, after insurance (doesnt pay much of anything), and they dont tell me anything! Some of his symptoms are: speech delayed, very loud voice, very immature, sloppy writing, clumsy, issues with fine motor skills, he gets food/drink all over face every time he eats, invades others personal space, laughs at inappropriate things, high pitch laugh, lying, very rough, rushes through homework or chores, stomps when he walks, argumentative, always talking about fighting and who is stronger, socially weird, cant hold a mature conversation, cant multitask, all of his conversations are revolved around him and his interests. If anyone has any suggestions on what my next steps should be, I would love to hear them. Thanks so much!
