Hi, I hope its ok to ask this kind of thing here :) Im wondering if someone on here might have some advice as we tried calling Wildlife Victoria who eventually put us on to a vet who eventually put us on to 0419 356 433 (animal carers network?) which is just a voice mail saying they dont have enough volunteers at the moment. This poor little guy hit a window in our garage pretty hard this morning. I think it might be a Jacky Winter (birdlife.org.au/bird-profile/jacky-winter) but Im not sure (if anyone can confirm thatd be great). We are out at Strangways now (near Newstead) so if theres anyone closer Id like to know that too. Basically the bird is in a cardboard box with a towel over it (in a relatively quiet and warm place), theres a small saucer of water in there (small enough that it cant drown) and I got it to take a little water from a tea spoon. It does stretch its legs and tail feathers a bit (so we dont think it broke its neck/back) and it does intermittently turn its head to see what it thinks of me. It hasnt yet tried to stand though and Ive only noticed tiny movements from the wings. So the big question is, is there anything else a professional carer would be doing that I cant manage? Im working from home mostly so can keep an eye on it until at least Wednesday night and Im not keen on driving it somewhere else just for the sake of it (i.e from the information I got from the vet they would just do what Ive been doing and maybe pass it on to a carer). Happy to drive it somewhere if theres something else to be done - but if there is what and to whom? Cheers, Dave So now for the big question
