Hi I love this time of year. Especially now that the clocks have gone forwards. Sun in the sky, birds in the trees and pretty much my whole drive home is lined with bright daffodils that cannot help but make me think that summer is on the way. I live on the top of a hill in the middle of nowhere which is amazing for several reasons. Its peaceful, I can see for miles, in fact I can see the coast which makes for amazing sunsets and Im also surrounded by fields that are now full of lambs which again tells me that summer is on the way. Another bonus of living where I do is that there is no light pollution so on a clear night I get to see an amazing display of the night sky. In fact the sky was so clear last night that I could almost reach up and touch the stars. Now Im not going to get all Patrick Moore on you and start talking about which planets are where and what spring equinox is all about but I do want to talk about goal setting. You see when most people decide to go on a weight loss or keep fit program they never really get specific about why they are doing it. Sure they will come up with the vague goals of I want to lose some weight but those goals are to vague, to wishy washy to help them through the hard times of change. Because if you want to lose weight, and more importantly keep that weight off you need to be specific about why you are following a specific weight loss plan. Setting goals doesnt have to be complicated but it does have to be specific. I teach my clients to make goals based on the what, when, why, how formula. Something like the following: I want to lose ten pounds of fat in the next six weeks so Im not embarrassed to go t-shirtless on my beach holiday in Valencia, Spain See how specific I was. I stated WHAT I wanted to lose. I stated WHEN I wanted to lose it and I also stated the reason WHY I wanted to lose it. Knowing your why is very important. Where there is a big enough why youll find the way. It will also help you when you want to stray on your fat loss program. Now that you know what you want to achieve, when you want to achieve it and above all WHY you want to achieve it, its just a case of finding out how you are going to get to your goal.
