Hi, I was asked the other day why we call it the Purple Angel, and even some of you may know why, some may not, so here`s is how it all started. When I was first diagnosed I wrote many blogs about my illness, I found it helped me, and I still do. Then when I pit them on the internet I was told it was helping so many others, so that’s what I try and continue to do today. In the blogs I have always called the love of my life Elaine, my “Angel” and if it wasn’t for my darling wife Elaine I would definitely not be here now. The blogs were turned into three books (Links are below) with the help of the Wonderful Barry Pankhurst from Indonesia who himself has mixed dementia. As time went on and we founded the Torbay dementia Action Alliance or the “TDAA” we knew we needed some kind of logo so I put out an appeal on Facebook. Well, the response was wonderful and we had some great ideas. Then, one weekend we went to visit our bestest friends Jane Moore and husband Graham and was given, by Jane a small piece of paper with a very rough drawing of an angel which was purple. Straight away it caught my eye and when I asked her why a purple Angel she replied “it’s quite simple Norrms, in your three books you have always referred to your wife Elaine as your Angel. Purple is allegedly a healing colour and so brought the two together!! The rest as they say is HISTORY!! Within weeks of publishing it on the internet the whole world and his WIFW wanted to know what it was all about!! That was no more than 17/18 months ago (The logo that is) and has since gone on to be called “The Global Purple Angel dementia Campaign. We now have over three HUNDRED Purple Angel Ambassadors all over the world who now have THEIR OWN teams and we have THOUSANDS of business`s signed up to the Purple Angel dementia awareness campaign, as well as towns, villages cities supporting us from all over the globe. Our motto is …………….. “Together We are Strong” And this has proved so true, so there you go!!
