Hi, Im Linda Watkins and welcome to the world of MATEGUAS ISLAND, A NOVEL OF TERROR & SUSPENSE! Mateguas is a fictional island located off the coast of southern Maine, accessible only by ferry and private boat. The island is inhabited year-round by approximately 300 hearty Mainers, most of whom earn their living from the sea. To this remote place, come displaced California natives, Bill and Karen Andersen and their twin daughters, Sophie and Terri. The Andersens marriage has been in jeopardy for some time and the move only serves to heighten the tension between them. Soon after arrival, the mysteries begin. An arcane locked box, a hidden trail that leads deep into the woods, a seductive young woman, and tales of a malevolent Indian spirit become only some of the perils Karen finds she must navigate in order to find a way to save her family from the dark magic that lurks deep within the lore of the island. MATEGUAS, available in both print and as an eBook, is the first of a three-book series. The sequel, RETURN TO MATEGUAS ISLAND, is currently in draft form and will be published by Christmas 2014. To read an excerpt from the sequel, please visit my website: mateguasisland Check out the video trailer, too: bit.ly/1tpMlhA Also included at the website are pages on the Native American legends and symbols central to the Mateguas story and a description of the real island my fictional island is based on.
