Hi, Im Mike Lynch and I was nominated by Christine Oliva for a book challenge. List in your status 10 books that have stayed with you in some way. Dont take more than a few minutes and do not think too hard. They do not have to be the right books or great works of literature, just ones that have affected you in some way. (For me the ranking doesnt matter, if you do want me to do a ranked list, just ask and Ill do it). And if you want me to explain any choices I didnt explain why theyve stuck with me, just ask and Ill tell you. 10. Entire Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling; why? Its Harry Potter, duh! And also my childhood, so yeah it gets an automatic spot on the list. 9. A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket; why? It was a greatly written series that the author knew what to give up and what not to tell the reader to be suspenseful and the situations the children would get in were just cool. Also a big part of my childhood. 8. Joe DiMaggio: The Heros Life by Richard Ben Cramer; why? Its a very revealing portrait on a very private man, who in public he was the pure example for every young man to follow but in private, he could be one of the coldest men you could ever meet in your life. 7. The Things They Carried by Tim OBrien 6. Nineteen Minutes by Jodi Podicult; why? It was my first time reading something that every character had its own complex backstory and it made each character identifiable and relatable. You either experienced what at least one character went through or know someone who did. A book that really relied on its characters and it went well. 5. Who Censored Roger Rabbit? by Gary Wolf; (Im sort of cheating because Im reading it right now but I feel it should be on the list anyway because parts of it are already sticking with me as I read it.) why? Its fascinating how the toons (as theyre called in the book) socialize with the humans, its basically an allegory on segregation that took place during the 19th and most of the 20th century and its done really well. 4. Great Expectations by Charles Dickens; why? Its a classic, and Pip is a very interesting character and I was actually interested on where he ended up during his journey. 3. Silver Linings Playbook by Matthew Quick. 2. The Cacther In The Rye by J.D. Salinger. 1. The Chris Farley Story by Tom Farley Jr. and Tanner Colby and Belushi: A Biography by Judith Belushi Pisano and Tanner Colby.
