Hi, Im new to e30s and looking to get my first one in the next few weeks. Was originally looking for a 325i but a really nice looking car with an m20 2.7 in it has popped up. As I understand, this block was designed for economy and low end torque but suffers a bit in the power department. The guy selling the car, however reckons its running 240bp and has the dyno papers to prove it! Whats the general consensus on the 2.7s here? The seller says the engine is a bit of a mystery as the previous owner did the work.. Is it possible that the car has an alpina 2.7 thats been fettled with to get that kind of power? I want something fun to drive and was put off initially by the 2.7s apparent sluggishness, but with nearly double the factory bhp of a standard 2.7 , is it possible that this car could put a massive grin on my face?
