Hi, Ive been working on a solution for small/micro businesses using woocommerce. I thought Id share my method in case anyone finds it helpful. Sorry if this is too off topic! I began by looking at paddle, a payment gateway that handles the VAT MOSS headache by automatically collecting evidence and adding the appropriate VAT. This means that the shop owner doesnt need to register for VAT or set up MOSS. They also have a great woocommerce plugin. The downside of paddle is that its quite pricy compared to competitors and for example, if the shop owner is based the UK, 20% VAT will be unnecessarily taken from all UK sales. I contacted paddle and the developer suggested only using the paddle gateway to handle non UK (still an example) EU countries. To enable this functionality Ive put together a function that can be added to wordpress which shows the paddle gateway for the EU (other than the country the shop is based in) and paypal (or an alternative) for everywhere else. It grabs the country from the billing address field. Heres a link to my github with the function git.io/oa5Aqg . I think I should point out that I have no affiliation with woocommerce or paddle, I just use woocommerce for most small shops I build and paddle looks pretty good. Paddle say this is sound legally but itd be great to hear from anyone who knows of any issues. Any other feedback would be very welcome! Thanks
