Hi, I’ve mentioned a ‘Friends Exhibition / Charity - TopicsExpress

Hi, I’ve mentioned a ‘Friends Exhibition / Charity Auction’ event coming up to sow some creative seeds and can now give you some more details. I’ve now gone ahead and booked a small cosy gallery in Acton for our ‘day of fame’ so its definitely on: w3gallery.org.uk Diary Date: We basically have this space from 3.00pm till 8.00pm on Saturday 26th July –a little over a month away!! What’s it all about? 1. Well, the idea is quite simple, we each turn up with some form of ‘art’. Now ‘art’ is a rather broad description as I didn’t want to restrict your creative juices too much by ‘theming’ the event. What this basically means is what you choose to display as your exhibition piece (or pieces –upto 3) is pretty much open to your interpretation of what ‘art’ is: photos, video, paintings, sculptures {stone, paper mache, etc}, 8 foot stuffed shark (maybe not –remember transport!) It must have some creative input from you, don’t expect to turn up with a shop bought picture of the Brooklyn Bridge and gain much critical acclaim! :o) 2. We display our piece(s), I think some intrepid public will also be allowed to have a look too, why not! 3. We then auction them for charity (you may display a piece that is not for inclusion in the charity if you wish, or perhaps add a reserve bid if you want to take your piece back home with you –this will allow to show off any prized/expensive previous art in the knowledge that it’s still going to be yours at the end of the day!) 4. We retire next door to the excellent pub (it is actually right next door, the back of the gallery opens up into it!!). As it’s so close I actually think we may retire and come back, retire and come back, etc…! :o) See Delights of Acton below. 5. The charity(s) will be chosen soon. How to get there / logistics · The W3 Gallery is located in Acton, West London: w3gallery.org.uk/. · There is a map on their Facebook page: https://facebook/W3Gallery · The nearest Tube is Acton Town: https://tfl.gov.uk/cdn/static/cms/documents/standard-tube-map.pdf (there are various ways to get here but basically it’s on the District and/or Piccadilly lines, then 10 minute walk.) · We have the space from 3.00pm till 8.00pm on Saturday 26th July. · Arrival /setup 3-5, Display ~4-7. Auction will be run at 7.00pm, cleanup 7.30-8.00, then pub… · I have been told there are some plinths available and I will try to bring something to help us mount painting/pictures, etc. (like one of those ‘easy hang’ guns.) Please have a think about how your piece is going to be displayed and if you have any special requirements let me know. · There is a pub next door, it has an open area and seems reasonably child friendly… Nick.
