Hi Nihat This is a massive week for the Arctic 30 – and weve just got some incredibly big news. Late yesterday three of the Arctic 30 were granted bail. First Ekatarina Zaspa, then Denis Sinyakov (the freelance photographer), and finally Andrey Allakhverdov were granted bail. If you’re in Cape Town, we need you this Saturday. We’ll be beating our drums in a massive drumming circle, showing our support and making a noise for the Arctic 30 activists. Please join me to Drum for Justice. Meanwhile Kumi Naidoo, Head of Greenpeace International, has sent a personal plea to South African President Jacob Zuma, calling on him to speak out about the Arctic 30. Given South Africa’s historic rise against injustice, it would be immensely valuable to have Zuma speak out. That’s 100 times the number of polar bears left on the planet. Or 20 times the number of people that can fit into Soccer City stadium. It’s huge. But it’s still not enough to free our friends. Send another message now. Last Saturday, thousands of people in 40 countries and 263 cities raised their voices to demand freedom for the Arctic 30. Johannesburg and Dakar took action too, and this weekend Cape Town will be standing with the Arctic 30, Drumming for Justice. It feels so good to have a positive break in this campaign -- lets keep up the good energy and send a new wave of emails in favour of freeing the Arctic 30.
