He or she must be able to articulate Oracle database concepts clearly to upper management, service leads, security team, peers and application developers. • Background: Knowledge and experience with Oracle 10g and 11g. Knowledge of Oracle 12 is a plus. • Knowledge of database theory - Understanding of database and data warehouse design. This includes intimate knowledge of data normalization theory and knowledge of star schema design, as well as object-oriented modeling and knowledge of other database design methodologies. • System Analysis & Design skills & experience – Analysis and design of new database systems. Knowledge of data flow diagrams, data dictionary techniques, CASE tools, Entity-relation modeling and design techniques. Assist application developers with design requirements to accommodate Oracle efficiencies. • Database Design skills & experience – Knowledge of database normalization theory, STAR schema design, and data modeling techniques. • Physical Disk Storage skills – Understanding of disk hardware architecture, RAID (RAC) implementation, cache controllers, and disk load balancing. • Data Security skills – An understanding of relational database security including role-based security. • Backup and Recovery skills – Many backup and recovery methods involve third-party software, should have real-world experience implementing backup and recovery methods. • Performance and Tuning skills and experience – Experience analyzing and troubleshooting Oracle performance or data integrity issues; ability to resolve issue(s) as well as tune databases for efficiency. • Change Control Management skills – Implementing change control and insuring that changes to the production database are properly coordinated. Knowledge of third-party change control tools such as the UNIX Source Code Control System (SCCS) is beneficial.
