Hi Running Folks. I ran the LeRayville 5k. It was a mix of X-country and road. Tough race because of the many hills and believe or not down hills. As runners you know it may be harder to run down hill because it taxes the quids which are the most undertrained muscle group. Who does down hill faster then race pace all out repeats. Back to the race. It was raining up to about 20 minutes before the race. I said earlier it would stop raining 15 minutes before the race. :-) There were over 50 runners and walker from 7 years old to 74 yrs. it started well but for some reason some of the runners where starting it go the wrong way. I was about to follow and someone realize the mistake. We ran back then headed up a nice dirt road uphill. Then left into a corn field.. Then a short woods .. Finally back on to the road. With a nice sprint on the grass.... Dumb me forgot my X-country running shoes, so I was sliding all over the mud. But when I hit the road I took advantage of the hard top. Started passing some and caught out to a nice group of younger runners, men and women. We stayed together for the mile or so of the race. The stronger one started to pull ahead. A young lady came up on me and passed me on the hill, I passed her on the down hill..those who have race me know how fast I am on the down hill, turtle on the up hill the last 1/4 mile was a little of both, up and down. She had me until we turned into the fair grounds. My luck it was a short down hill and a small up hill.. I told myself this is the last race for a while why not just go for it and I took off.. She followed but I had the advantage of knowing the limit of my kick. I bested her by 2 second, if we had just 10 more feet to run I wouldnt been able to hold her off.. She was 18 years old. What a way to end a season! All the runners in that little group came in around 20 seconds average. Great race for a great cause.. Congrats to all the winners Mossier.. Nice run.. Talent to be recked with. The fair was great. I won the Nail Hammer in 3 strikes... I thought the boy was in shock to see a old fart like me dive a nail like that. The military was there. I thought they were there to recruit me.
