Hi Team Something different ... Just in, this email from Mal Clunie who needs recovery / rescue marshals for Jetsprints at Meremere this Sunday. Anyone who can help please drop Mal a text on 027 778 3036. The jetsprint track is more or less in the same place as the dragstrip - turn off Hwy 1 as if going to the dragstrip, keep going past the carpark field, just after that youll find the gate into the three cornered dirt track, the jetsprint track is in there behind the pit area. This isnt anything as derpy as crowd / traffic control, this is standing by the side of the jetsprint course ready to spring into action when the jetboats forget which side of the boat is supposed to be on top or whether to drive on the green bit or the wet bit. Dress to get very wet - you may have to get to a boat that has landed on an island (how deep is it Mal - knee deep, waist deep or neck deep ?) Like Mal did, Ill finish with the best bit ... There is a special competition for marshals at this one, they will get the chance to navigate and be in for a trophy for the fastest marshal navigator. Cheers Gary ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Malcolm Clunie Date: Tue, May 20, 2014 at 9:50 PM Subject: Jet Sprint at Meremere To: Peter Thomson, Gary Lowndes Hello Gents, There is a jet sprint event at Meremere this saturday and we are very, very short of helpers for our recovery team. Could you put the word out if any of your fine team would come to help. I am only around until Wednesday night, I leave for Dunedin on Thursday morning early but can check my phone while driving south from Christchurch during Thursday. If you can put my cell phone as a contact that would be fab. Assembly time would be 8.30am at the launch ramp area of the jet sprint track. The track is over behind the drag strip by the dirt racers track. Clothing to wear would be thermal under garments and shorts and warm type top the wil be ok when wet. Must be prepared to get wet as sometimes we have to make our way across the channel to get to a boat and do our thing. Shoes, best type being touch rugby or football boots with cleats for grip but normal sports footwear will do. We provide vests and lunch and a drink after. There is a special competition for marshals at this one, they will get the chance to navigate and be in for a trophy for the fastest marshal navigator. I hope you can help and some may come along. Mny thanks, Mal Clunie
