Hi-Tech Carbon (HTC) is a unit of Aditya Birla Nuvo Ltd., a flagship company in the fold of Aditya Birla Group of Companies. HTC is a leading Carbon Black producer in India. Beginning in 1988 at Renukoot, the company presently has manufacturing facilities at Renukoot in Uttar Pradesh, Gummidipoondi in Tamil Nadu and Patalganga in Maharashtra, with a combined capacity of 346,000 tpa. HTC exports roughly one-third of its total production to customers in the international markets including Bangladesh, Indonesia, Nepal, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, UAE and Singapore. In the domestic market, the company enjoys 40 per cent of the market share. Major domestic tyre manufacturing companies viz., MRF, Apollo, JK, Goodyear, Ceat, Bridgestone, Birla and TVS comprise the regular customers of the company. HTC uses the most modern technology, operated through the Distributed Control System (DCS). The process automation ensures quality and consistency in the manufacturing of Carbon Black. Besides, it also envisages conserving heat energy for productive utilisation through downstream processes. The energy conserved is converted into power for utilisation both captively and is exported to the state grid. Due to this eco-friendly operating system, HTC bagged the Energy Conservation Award from the Government of India.
