Hi There!! My God, I cannot believe it--we actually have someone in the White House who understands the true threats facing America. President Obama noted today in a press conference that he worries more about terrorists detonating a nuclear bomb in Manhattan than about Russia occupying the Crimea. Finally, a ray of sanity amidst the frenzy among the DC political class about the need to fight Hitler on the Dneipr. (The DC political class appears to have forgotten that their attempts to fight Hitler on the Mekong and to fight Hitler along the Tigrus-Euphrates did not turn out well--they are eagerly embracing the chance to once again fantasize that they are Winston Churchill.) Russias occupation of the Crimea may or may not be unfortunate for the people of Crimea--but it poses no threat to US national security interests. It is time for the DC political class to recognize that basic reality and to stop dreaming of being the next Winston Churchill. Incidentally, anyone with any knowledge of Churchills life knows that repeatedly he put his convictions ahead of his self-interest. This fact alone explains why very, very few of the members of the DC political class even remotely ressemble Churchill: Those of us who know DC have a bad joke: What is the difference betweeen convicted mobster John Gotti and the members of the House and the Senate? John Gotti has a least one conviction.
