Hi, Think Tankers! I have a question related to naming rooms, or more specifically, renaming rooms in the library- In 1976, our basement was remodeled into a Childrens Room, and the room was named for someone who played a big role in getting the room renovated- both in terms of a large monetary donation and in terms of gathering town support for the project. We are ready to renovate the area again, which includes a significant overhaul of the room. We have received a large donation to be put towards our project, and it has been suggested that we re-name the Childrens Room after this large donor. Is there some kind of etiquette related to re-naming a room that was previously named for someone? When you name a room for someone, how long do you keep it named for that person? I am hesitating to agree to rename the room because there are still living relatives of the person the room is currently named after, and in a town of only 4,000 people, Im afraid to hurt someones feelings. We do have other rooms that would make good naming opportunities, but a few people have fixated on the Childrens Room for this particular donor. Help! =)
