Hi Todays the day that Autumn gets its act together, as strong - TopicsExpress

Hi Todays the day that Autumn gets its act together, as strong winds and heavy rain arrive form the north west. Before then its a mainly dry day, with decent spells of sunshine for many of us, in fact the clear skies for northern areas overnight saw temperatures drop to as low as -2c in N Ireland and north east England. Further south a blanket of cloud kept temps in the mid teens overnight, and itll be another warm day, especially in the south east. Some southern areas may see a shower or two later on, but they will be few and far between. The north of Scotland will feel cooler as the wind from the approaching Autumn storm strengthens through the day, and by late afternoon there will be gales for the Western Isles and the first of the rain will be making itself felt. It will turn increasingly wet and windy for the west of Scotland, Ireland and N Ireland overnight, and the wind will strengthen much of Ireland and the north of the UK. Gusts of up to 70mph are possible for the western coast of Scotland, with gales and sever gales for other areas. Elsewhere itll be dry with clear spells, with some fog and mist developing during a mild night. The heavy rain and gales will move slowly south east through Friday across Ireland, N Ireland and into northern England and north Wales during the afternoon. Ahead of the wind and rain itll be another mild day, temperatures again in the low twenties in the south east, while behind the cold front, its a lot fresher at 13-16c. That band of rain will very slowly continue to edge east/south east and will clear the east of Scotland during Saturday morning, but the east of England will be the last to see it clear during the evening. Sunday will be brighter and fresher, though there will be showers scattered across the northwest of Britain. Ian
