Hi WAGers Have you noticed the new speed restrictions on Golden Jubilee Way duel carriage way into Wickford? I have been told by a County Councillor that a temporary ordinance will be running for 18 months limiting the speed to 30mph (down from 50mph). This is while the ridiculous flats are being built. What I find amusing is that road signs have been placed showing 30mph, and some of the 50 mph signs have been taped over. As you approach the roundabout at least two of the warning signs are behind the tarpaulins and not visible until you pass them, and as you look at the roundabout there is a large sing saying 50 mph. Anyone turning left towards the London Road will see another temporary sign saying 50mph followed 20 feet along by normal sign saying 30mph. Confusing or what! Grounds I would say any speeding fine to be quashed. While lorries and large plant are entering and exiting this building site. Would it be better for all of Golden Jubilee Way from the BP Garage to the next roundabout, by the building site, to be temporary set at 30 mph before someone is injured or worse? Does the team think that the Traffic Engineer who set up these signs would benefit from further training?
