Hi Zane, If this happens to reach you, my family and I would greatly appreciate it if you share the following: My cousin was murdered by her ex-boyfriend in a murder-suicide on March 16. She was a single parent raising a 3-year old son who possibly witnessed the murder. Her mother, my aunt, filed for custody and was challenged by his biological father. The Bessemer Family Court System here in Alabama has granted temporary custody to his father until the permanent custody hearing two weeks from now. Kameron, my 3-year-old cousin, had never even met his biological father until this custody battle began. It is heart breaking to watch the court system not only fail my cousins memory but my 3-year-old cousin as well. The court is ignoring so many facts in this case and is not ruling in the best interests of the child involved. Kameron was forced to move with a father he never met and did not even know existed. Sadly enough, he called the ex-boyfriend Daddy. My aunt relocated back to Alabama so she would not have to relocate Kameron outside of here and away from family. She wanted to keep as much of his little life intact as possible. She did not forsee his biological father ever being an issue since he has never attempted to be involved in his life. Can you imagine losing your own daughter and then having her only child, your grandchild ripped from you within a months span? FYI he has at least 8 other kids for which he has custody of none and owes back child support on at least 4 of them, Kameron included. There are so many additional variables in this case that would make your head spin.
