Hi, a brief note to inform you about an event that I participate in - Bearduary, a two month long celebration of facial hair, primarily male but no one is excluded, so ladies if you are qualified feel free to join in. Started in NYC some years ago Bearduary encourages beard growth from Jan 1 to March 1 with the participants posting weekly pictures of their efforts. Each individual or group solicits donations for their favorite charity with links on the page to make tax free donations. Along with my son Bob and some of his friends we have dedicated this year to The Edward Lakata Memorial Scholarship Fund which awards 2 $1,000 scholarships to graduates of the Johnstown High School, one in music and one in math/science. Ed was a great musician and teacher as well as a truly nice guy and friend. He passed away after being hit by a truck while riding his bicycle near his home.The fund was started as a way to honor his name and support his two passions, music and science. Please take a couple of minutes and watch the attached video, my son is more articulate than I and if you can, please make a small donation. whether you donate or not check back over the next few weeks as I color, adorn and trim my beard.
