Hi all :) Deryn has had a check up today at the hospital and he now weighs in at a whopping 38kg! This is fab as he was under 36kg before he went to America and he lost quite a bit of weight over there so to see an increase like this is really encouraging - hes also grown another two centimetres! We had the results back from his X rays of his back recently and theres NO bone damage at all there, just a lot of growing to do so that is reassuring too - his ankle is still quite difficult to walk on but doesnt hurt half as much as it used to and his fingers are getting better each day - hes experiencing sensations in them everyday which is great, he describes it like feeling pins and needles going down his fingers. I cant help but think that this is the nerves regrowing in some way? The doctors were talking about how well he looks and that he looks better and better each and every time they see him - they are still using the word miracle and all of the specialists cant understand how he is so well so soon (relatively speaking) since his last transplant considering where he was this time last year. His immune reconstitution tests from October showed that his immune system is at 70% , they have tested again today and well wait to see what hes sitting at now but this is again, nothing short of miraculous. They dont really expect to see this until at least 2 years post transplant. Once his immunity is at almost 100% then they want to discuss vaccinations, we have already told them our views on those so I will leave that there :) I am feeling less and less dread each time he goes in and has bloods taken, I am starting to believe more and more that he will stay well forever. Deryn is still taking quite a few supplements and herbal extracts to help him stay well, hell take them for the rest of his life but hes happy to do so - I guess when youve become an expert at swallowing a handful of massive pills with no water, a few capsules a day dont really bother you. Things are starting to get a little christmassy here - we have our festive period all booked and paid for and we cannot wait! I hope you can all have a wonderful christmas, I know its not always great for a lot of people for many different reasons but I really do hope that you can enjoy your time together with those you love xxx Once 2015 is here - I will be rolling out the charity like its going out of fashion - I cant wait for you wonderful people to be a big part of the charity, you guys will be there from the very beginning and thats really exciting :) Love and light xxx
