Hi all, Due to family member with Traumatic Brain Injury I keep in close touch with Brain Injury Australia. have received the following request from them today - 1. Brain Injury Australia is a partner in a $3 million project funded by the Australian Government’s Department of Education, to be conducted by researchers at the University of South Australia in collaboration with colleagues at the University of Adelaide, Flinders University and Victoria University. Called “Digital Enterprise”, the project “aims to foster personal initiative, reduce isolation, develop entrepreneurial skills and promote participation in further education and employment” through “high-tech computer learning programs, game‐making, technology competitions and digital design activities”. It will involve four groups of children and young people – aged between 10 and 20 years in Sydney, Adelaide, Melbourne and Darwin - with autism spectrum disorders, acquired brain injury, cerebral palsy or other physical disabilities, starting in May 2014. 2. Please see attached: a “letter of introduction” from the project’s lead - Associate Professor Denise Wood, from the University of South Australia; a project “participant information sheet”; and some potential content I’d ask you to distribute “through newsletters, websites, social media and email lists, and invite [participants] to contact us at UniSA should they be interested in participating.” 3. Specifically, I am looking for your help in, and realistically only in, the recruitment phase of the project; to help build a cohort – specifically, as per the attached, residents of the Christies Beach suburb of Adelaide - of “24 young people, 12 aged 10‐15 and 12 aged 16‐ 20 years with acquired brain injury, cerebral palsy or other physical disabilities to participate in this program.” I’d ask that forward this email, with the attachments, to any individual or organisation who may be able to help with recruitment and/ or your supply to me of the names and contact details of such individuals or organisations. Thanks, on both counts. As to when I’d like you to do this, since the project is meant to start in May 2014, as soon as is practicable.
