Hi all, I attempted my first marathon and made it to 38km, having a lovely time going down the slight incline on Domain road when I tripped and hit my head on the footing of a steel barricade. That was the end of my marathon journey for me this year. I wanted to thank all the runners that came to help me at the time. In particular I can remember (I am hoping I have the names right) Matt and Colleen that stayed with me quite some time until help arrived. I really appreciated how helpful they both were and how they let me down gently that I wouldnt be finishing because I had a serious cut in my head. They also delayed their own personal marathon journeys to help a fellow runner. I was taken off to the Alfred Hospital and after Xrays and CT scans left with 4 stiches in my head and the all clear. Thanks also to the medical staff and others that came to help. Hope to see you all again next year but hopefully as I cross the finish line. :-)
