Hi all, I need some help please - so if youre a bird person please keep reading... I rescued a male sparrow last night off Roger Douglas, who had him not in mouth but trapped in a corner of the porch. He has no puncture wounds, but his leg and wing on one side couldnt extend or weight bear properly. Only lost a couple of under-feathers too, so I decided to give getting him better a shot. Ive called him Jack, naturally... To my surprise Jack was alive and chirpy this morning, I have him in a cat carry cage, covered to keep his stress down as he couldnt stop hyperventilating last night, he has a wee dish of water and a slice of multi-grain bread, which hes not enamored with. Hes easy to handle, and weve made two trips outside to try walking and he can walk, but not fly, and Roger was lurking, so hes back in the cage. I dont really know what to do for Jack from now on - if any of you know much about rescuing birds I would really appreciate your advice. Or if someone can take him on - Im off to Riverton tomorrow night for 3 days and I know hes just a wild bird but Id like him to fly free. Hes a bit adorable.
