Hi all! Its already the end of November and Christmas is just around the corner. I cant believe how fast this year has gone by (thats what old people say - the year goes by faster and faster as you get older and older grr)! I feel like CEYA has really taken the centre stage at Elim in terms of serving anywhere and everywhere, which is awesome to see. Serving is one of my personal top three spiritual giftings and I feel the happiest and the closest to God when I serve. But lately, Ive started to feel really caught up in being busy and treating my time serving as a chore and something that I had to do for God and for the church in order for Him to love me. Very arrogant and foolish of me. When you lose sight of why youre serving, i.e. once you forget that this is all for the glory of God, you become easily burnt out. I know that Im not the only one experiencing this because I can see this in many of you. Have a listen to the song attached. I know we sing this all the time at church, but really, listen. Read the words to the song. This is our Father. He is capable of bringing hope to the hopeless, light to those in the darkness, and death to life. He gives peace to the restless, and joy to homes that are broken. He fills those who are empty and rescue those in the valley. He finds me in my weakness and heals the wounds of my heartache. And this amazing God laid His life down for us. All things are possible with God and He doesnt need us to serve Him. He doesnt need this tiny, arrogant, judgmental, ill-tempered girl (me) to serve Him. But He does want my sincere and genuine worship and praise. It doesnt matter how well I sing or how well I cook in the café. If Jesus is not the centre of it all, I may receive compliments from people, but it doesnt mean anything to Him. And what matters to God should be the only thing that matters to you and me. God loves you no matter what. He loves you when you succeed, He loves you when you fail. He loves you when you serve, but He still loves you when you take a step back. He loves you when youve done an awesome item, but He still loves you when you stuffed up the lyrics. Remember, He loves every part of you.
