Hi all, Its been a trip to look through the posts and photos. Many of the names came right back to me. Some of the names mentioned here sparked a memory of yet another person. I was born in 1962. I had Mrs. Fromme (sp?), Mrs. Cinton (I think) and Mr. Pedersen (sp?). My brother, David Liles, and I were sent to two different private schools when I was in third and fourth grade. One a so-called free school. Hey, it was the 70s! Quinton and Jenny ONeal lived up Panorama Drive from us in Aldercroft Heights. Our families were close. We vacationed together. The pictures below are of my brother and I, and Quentin and Jenny and my parents on a backpacking trip. Look at the filthy faces! Especially my brothers. True mountain kids. Quinton died in 1982 at the age of 20, I think. My brother, David, died the following year, in 1983. Maybe I should have saved this story for the end of my post...I dunno. Leonard Curtis Foster , did I ever know your name was Leonard? Victor R Castellanos, for some reason I associate you strongly with the school bus. Haha! Same with Charlie Ruiz. Nick Raby, yup, Dan Davidson lived near me in Aldercroft but he didnt ride the bus. I remember Julie Randazzo-Alli. Wasnt the girl who lived right across Old Santa Cruz Highway from where the lake came close to the road, Chris Jarvis? Her house was modern with a lot of glass. This was very close to the school. Ive been trying to remember the little Einstein girls name. She was a few years younger than me but, for some reason, we were friends at school. I remember the Kuykendal name but I dont know which sibling. John Hood, I remember you. Brent White, I think I do. Blaisdell but Im not sure which one. Jeff, Maybe. Steve Rouse... The Peer brothers...I dont know if the spelling is correct! Clint was in my grade. Mike one year or so younger, if I recall correctly, and Perry one year or so year older. I just cant recall the oldest boys name. And what to say here except that I remember... Sorry this is so long... The library and the mural in the library that we painted! I recall a monarch butterfly on it. I believe I worked on that part. Maybe a redwood tree, too...We also planted a tree down that path to those sort of basement rooms at the far end of the school. We had choir practice down there. I couldnt sing. Was still in choir. I recall planting a tree down that ramp to the choir room and that a plaque for our class or grade was placed near the tree. Dodge ball, Double Dutch Jump Rope, 4 Square, Hop Scotch, Chinese jump rope, Bars, rings, callouses and blisters, baseball or softball in the lower field, hiding that slimy hot lunch spinach in my milk carton. I think I liked it, though, when I got to serve hot lunch in sixth grade. We wore hairnets. A van brought the food. Thanks for being here, guys, and I look forward to reading more of your memories.
