Hi all. Just thought Id tell my story even though its rather mundane compared to what a lot of you experienced. I was so terrified that I spent part of the night on the toiled with a bucket in front of me. Hubby sat on the floor with his feet pressed against the bathroom/toilet door trying to keep it shut until something smashed the lovers behind my head. We made a hasty exit from bathroom and put a mattress in the hallway with another on top of us. I was up against the wall, water pouring down and brick wall pulsating. Im saying Im saying Im going to be sick again with hubby telling me I could not as he didnt want me to be sick all over him. (Should have been the least of his worries). Next morning we discovered that it was corrugated iron which came through the bathroom window and must have stopped just inches from my head. We also thought we were the only ones alive. At the time we were breeding and showing cats. We were also boarding one for people who were on holidays. Not knowing what to do with them the authorities put them down saying that they would take responsibility for the one that was not ours. Plays on my mind a lot so if the owner should be reading this Im sorry thought it was the best thing to do at the time. I dont have much recollection from then on. We were evacuated to Adelaide and then on to Sydney to my in-laws. We then ended up in Malanda Nth Qld where we had sent the children to spend Christmas with my parents. (thank God). It wasnt long before Rick returned to Darwin, then myself and then the Children. Darwin is always in my heart. Unfortunately I couldnt get back for the commemoration as will be up there in June for my sons 50th. Hope you all have a great time catching up and thank you all for sharing your stories.
