Hi all, Throughout Culcheth, new lamp posts have been installed, which I am sure many of you are aware of. The new lamp posts will certainly improve street lighting, with street lighting increasing in up to 72% in some streets. Despite this, I have a few personal concerns that I would like to address and share with you all. Firstly, the aesthetics of the new street lights; I find them ill-favoured and, quite simply, hideous. They seem too futuristic for my liking and they take away the traditional look of our streets. Secondly, could our local funding be better spent on more important projects? Maybe a new skate park? Or could improvements be made on our playground for the little ones? It worries me that we are replacing perfectly capable street lights; surely investment can be carried out in more concerning parts of our community.
