Hi all Why does Taupo Thunder Drags have pre entry Taupo has to be a pre entered track as its needs to rely on advertising to get bums on seats due to its location. To attract the public they need to know who /what is coming to race to thus helping and to keep costs to the racer down The brand partners / helpers /Public need to be informed who does what and why we do it in a programme which is unusual to be done at Taupo I have had talks with some of the brand partners re the state of entries and in their opinion it would be embarrassing for Taupo and its reputation, which it is trying to build And to run a meet like we have done prior with emphasis on Fast Fun Friendly Family I feel we need to build on what you all wanted, as its you that make it! As there have only been 11 racers entered for 28th meet and 4 for the 3 rd. meet .The drivers have decided that they didn’t want to run at taupo or they needed this season off to rebuild for the upcoming season when we all come together under one roof so it is best I listen and do what you want as it’s a big commitment and I would be committing financial suicide in running with 11 cars only I’m sorry to inform all races and helpers public that taupo thunder drags won’t be running this season Yes! no doubt that some will call me all the names under the sun however what you need to understand is it costs a lot of money and time to set up the track and think about the money it takes for the racers to commit with sorting trailers, cars, family holiday time, and crew which I understand and to have only 10 cars running I feel it would be beer a clock at ten then we could have too much fun if you know what I mean Also with MMP running on 3rd I feel that Taupo running it would be detrimental to the sport having two tracks running on the same day even through Taupo booked there date first contrary to what you have been told So I have decided that we don’t need more tracks fighting as no one wins And with mmp not wanting to run the mid island nationals because taupo was on is unfear to the racers Taupo is a racers track and I feel that the racer come first as without racers we have nothing With us taking this stand it will give us a chance to promote the track next season as we have a tv drag racing show happening in the winter which will be promoting the AMERICA V NEW ZEALAND SUMMER NATIONALS DRAG FEST Our VINTAGE DRAG MEET YES THAT’S 4 EVENTS OVER 7 DAYS All covered by TV and that should be helpful for getting your car sponsored 2015/2016 season if allowed by taupo motor sport park as they control dates and events and who hires it And I hope they can understand like your self’s And the support Thanks Ken Galvin
