Hi all, just joined this group last night (thank you to who approved it), and I am hoping that this is a place where I can ask this type of question... Some of my ancestors came to Ontario, Canada from Wicklow County back in the 1800s...I know a fair amount about them, but have hit a brick wall on further information. What I can tell you is that all of their religious ceremonies, marriages, baptisms, etc. occurred at St. Michaels Church of Ireland. Ive always wondered if there were family members that remained in Wicklow County, and if so, who are they, are they still there, etc. Im breaking this down by family grouping at time of emigration. 1832- My 4th g-grandparents, George Codd and his wife, Mary Blackburn and their children: Catharine, George, Jane, Abraham, William, Thomas, John Edward, James and Joseph. Pictured below is my 3rd g-grandparents who were the aforementioned Thomas Codd and his wife, Eliza Jane Martyn, although Eliza is of Irish heritage, they met and married here in Canada, her parents were a Henry Martyn (parents were John Martyn and Hannah Kelly) and a Jane Fennell (parents Nathaniel Fennell and Elizabeth Rathwell). Where I am blocked on this grouping is the parents of George Codd and Mary Blackburn. 1853- Part of the Fitzwilliam Assisted Emigration- My 3rd great-grandparents- Edward Dagg, his wife Elizabeth Codd, and two children named Robert and Hannah (they had further children in Canada), also travelling with them was Edwards brother, also named Robert Dagg. I know that Edwards parents were Robert Dagg and Hannah Dowling, with Hannah being a widow before Edward and Robert Jr. emigrated, she was considered too old for emigration at the age of 70. Later on, Elizabeth Codds sister, a widow by the name of Rachel Codd-Ireton joined them in Canada. This set, I am stuck on Elizabeth Codds parentage. So, if there is anyone out there that might recognize any of the above (especially if we might be related), I would LOVE to hear from you, feel free to message me.
