Hi, built a new Surly Cross-Check, which has DT shifters, and my mechanic had these Suntour shifters so we installed them. The left doesnt click, the right does (does this mean left is on friction mode and right is on indexed shifting? Sorry really new to this...) Also loaded up a current Deore cogset and long RD, and Ive been shifting fine, but beyond the clicking shifts I sort of need to tune my shifting. I am new to DT shifting and almost made a parked CRV my ramp/funeral... Would you advise me to find a 6 speed cogset so I can use the 6 clicks? Or should I just set it to no clicking mode and shift it as one would tune an old analog radio? I found a 7 speed cogset that only goes up to 30--I kind of need the wider range of an MTB casette as I plan on touring loaded. Please advise, Im a total rook. Thanks!
