Hi, everybody! :) I just had a friend ask me about vision issues, sight alignment &, ultimately, good target acquisition. Heres what I told her: Theres no One size fits all answer, unfortunately. I think you should experiment with different types of sights to find the one that gives you the best sight picture, overall. Some gun stores & ranges that rent handguns will be happy to oblige. These can include night sights with three tritium dots (one on the front sight & one on either side of the rear sight notch. I know that some shooters have had gunsmiths widen the gap of the rear sight notch to give them a better sight picture, to offset the fuzziness of the rear sight as they focus on the front sight. Another option would be to add a laser sight, which would allow you to focus solely on your target. If you choose to go that route, it will be very important for you to also add the next best conventional sights to your pistol & train with them regularly, so the you do not become overly dependent on the laser, should it fail. In other words, youd do well to get yourself proficient with the use of both sighting methods, so that all of your bases are covered. Im hoping some of you will have firsthand experience with this & be able to offer additional... insight (Sorry; I couldnt resist). ;)
