Hi everyone. First and for most thank all of you for your donations for Diesel’s treatment. We started his treatments last week and I am very happy to tell you all it is going well and Diesel is doing amazing. We have another treatment this week and every week after for the next 9 weeks. Everyone is very confident he will pull through this with no issues. He is very strong and wasted no time running around and being his normal self. Thank you for helping make this happen. Discharge Summary & Instructions for Diesel Gern Monday, January 19, 2015 Patient Number: 20330 This report provides a summary of our evaluation of your pet and instructions for additional care. Your continued feedback is invaluable to us, however please continue to consult with your primary care veterinarian for all routine medical or emergency care. Primary Care Veterinarian: Dr. Alexis Willingham Attending Veterinarian: David S. Rolfe, DVM, MS, DACVIM (SAIM) Diagnosis: Multicentric lymphosarcoma Treatment Plan: University of Wisconsin Canine Lymphoma Protocol -- Elspar today Today’s Summary: Diesel presented on January 15 to start chemotherapy for his multicentric lymphosarcoma. He did well after prednisone, his left submandibular and left pre-scattered nodes just recently started enlarging again. He has had a history of seasonal allergies and mild hives today, his left submandibular and left pre-scattered nodes are approximately 1.5 cm in size. The rest of his exam was unremarkable. His CBC was unremarkable and a NSAID6 identified mild elevations in liver enzymes consistent with the steroids. His calcium was normal. He received his dose of Elspar uneventfully. We started him back on a short course of prednisone and recommend starting omega 3 fatty acids, 3000-3,500 mg of combined DHA/ EPA per day; this will easily be met with 1 or more human capsules. He may also benefit from a fiber supplement such as Metamucil or Benefiber; his dose is 1/2 tsp every 12 hours. Diesel should return in 1 week for recheck and his next treatment. Medications Required or Dispensed: Prednisone 20 mg #20, 1 tab twice daily for 5 days, then 1 tab once daily for 5 days, then 1 tab every other day until complete` (Please note we need 24 hours advance notice on any prescription refills) Please schedule your next visit with our receptionist in 1 week for recheck, CBC and further treatment. Please do not feed your pet after 10 pm the night before any scheduled visit. Patients scheduled for a drop-off appointment may arrive as early as 7:15 am and should arrive before 9:00 am
