Hi everyone. Have you ever felt so incredibly happy that you can barely contain yourself? Luther wrote a song featured in The Wiz that reflects exactly how I’m feeling these days: “Everybody look around cause there’s a reason to rejoice you see.” It means so much to me that I could be part of this historic recording for “The Wiz” soundtrack. There were dozens of us who sang in the choir on “Everybody Rejoice” (Cissy, Maretha, Joshie, Babi, Frank, Gordon, Diva, Roberta, Vivian, Patti, Fonzi, David, Ullanda, Janice, Leon, Janet, Ray, Zach, Ted, Debbie, Yvonne, Clare ...) cant list them all, but you get the idea. It was like a who’s who of NYC session singers. Everybody Rejoice inspires such joy and hope it makes me want to kick up my heels and SING from the rooftops: Can you feel a brand new day? With so many exciting projects on the horizon, I definitely feel connected to the spirit of what Luther was saying in his lyrics. It IS a brand new day! I also love the version that Luther recorded with his own group. That man could do everything ... and I miss him so much. Love, Alfa
