Hi, everyone. I brought this portrait from our home to share with you tonight. It has hung in our home for 21 years. Ive always been proud of this image, because I photographed it when our daughter Wyeth Olivia was sixteen hours old, and Marion was lying in her birth center bed the morning after Wyeth was born. It was done by window light, on a Minolta camera with some cheap plastic soft focus lens I used to use a lot. I cant remember the make or model of the lens at the moment. What looks a little like a muslin background is actually the folds in Marions pillow case. You can see her hospital band on her right wrist, under my signature and the 1993 date. Most photographs of newborns done in the hospital are not very artistic. After I created this image and displayed it in our studio gallery, Marion and I offered to come to the hospital the morning after a birth to do something beautiful. No one ever took us up on the offer. I wish everyone a lovely weekend.
