Hi everyone...I have come here to hopefully get help in caring for these babies that came into our rescue. They came in at 7 days old. There were 7 in the litter, 2 had died before getting to us. Momma had a heart condition and only 3 nipples, the owner, a mess of issues, driving them around in the heat of summer in her car, fortunately she surrendered them to rescue. They came in very fragile, week and very skinny. They all seemed late in development with their eyes and ears not starting to open until 3 weeks old. At 4 weeks old one was admitted to the hospital for breathing difficulties and initially diagnosed with pneumonia from what I thought was aspiration from feeding. Then a second one went in a week later, same issues. By the time the second one went in we had received the xray results back showing no pneumonia but did have indications of Mega E or esophageal mobility disorder. Well then the 3rd, the 4th and finally the 5th...ALL have the same thing. I started putting them in pringles cans after feeding for 10 minutes. A few of them have graduated to sewer piping because of their size. They are chihuahua pups, ranging from 10 ounces to 17 ounces and will be 6 weeks old. Since the canning I have noticed a significant overall improvement with all 5. After 5 weeks of round the clock care Im pretty exhausted. I am in hopes I will get some ideas here to make life a little easier with these babies and learn more about this disease.
