Hi everyone! I hope youre excited for 8th period clubs starting soon, especially Forensics Speech! Forensics is growing rapidly at TJ, and its never too late to join. Forensics Speech is a VHSL activity (meaning you can get a varsity letter!), and while we go to a lot of the same tournaments as debate/student congress, were distinct in our areas of focus. Speech focuses on public speaking, self expression, and can even involve hints of theater and current events. Speech events can range from writing your own free speech in Original Oratory, to delivering a spontaneous speech Extemporaneous, or even acting out a scene in Duo Interpretation. There are many different events you can participate in that each focus on a different aspect of oral expression. We compete both in WACFLs and national tournaments. Speech is a great way to make new friends, meet students from all grade levels, and express yourself to an audience thatll listen.
