Hi everyone! I know its been awhile since I have posted anything so thought I owed you an update. I am currently working on finding ways we can amend our city code to better enforce our comprehensive plan which will keep the big box stores, Walmart or otherwise, out of our awesome town. It is easier said than done for so many reason such as being fair to existing businesses, not coding our town out of any future growth, politics, and the list goes on and on. Just know that this issue is not dead and definitely all need to keep our eyes & ears open...rumors have been floating around about Walmart looking at other land options in or just outside Baldwin. I encourage you all to periodically write letter or emails to the city & Baldwin City Signal (local paper). Its lets our city officials and Walmart know that we have not let our guard down and are ready to make some more noise if necessary :).
