Hi everyone. I know that Simon has filled some of you in on whats going on with our pregnancy, but I thought it was worth giving a general update. We went for a scan on Wednesday as my midwife was worried that the baby wasnt growing properly as my bump wasnt showing any significant growth from my last appointment. Thankfully, the baby is a perfectly average size, but we discovered from the scan that it has moved into the breech position. Given that the baby had dropped and began to engage over two weeks ago (and that wed been having contractions all weekend) we were totally unprepared for this. We have an appointment at the Royal on Saturday afternoon to hopefully move the baby into the right position, and since it looks like its only moved in the last week, we have a better chance of succeeding compared with a baby thats been breech for several weeks. If the baby doesnt move, the midwives at the Royal are happy for us to have a trial labour run and see if we can deliver the baby breech, but we need to be at the hospital as soon as we go into labour so they can do another scan and keep an eye on us in case things dont progress well and we need a C-section. Basically, weve switched very suddenly from having an incredibly low-risk pregnancy with plans for a homebirth to the complete opposite end of the spectrum about a week before our due date! We would really appreciate prayers for a) the baby to move out of the breech position and/or b) us to have a complication-free breech delivery at the hospital. If we do need a C-section, were going to need even more prayers and assistance as were supposed to be moving house on the 25th of September and my mobility will be severely limited for at least six weeks after we have the baby. If anyone is available to give us a lift to or from the Royal tomorrow afternoon, could you please let us know? My mum has been ferrying us around to appointments this week and Id love to give her a break.
