Hi everyone! Im reborn pregnant with a lovelyn LDC soft line baby. I know a fellow mummy who has one so decided to talk to her about it. She asked me if mine was silicone mixed with vinyl like hers was. I replied that you couldnt mix them, of course lots of people jumped on the case and a few people yesterday were arguing with me about the fact that silicone and vinyl mix dolls exist and one had even paid more money as the doll had silicone in. The softer LDC dolls are NOT silicone and vinyl mixed together as they cant be mixed and cure, in fact vinyl is thought to erode silicone which is why you shouldnt display vinyls and silicones touching. The £60 dolls on eBay and amazon called silicone/vinyl arent and are in fact mass produced in China and they are re producing well known kits without the sculptures permission which is actually illegal. On the other end of the scale are the people who try to sell dolls for more money after putting the word silicone in the title. You wont be getting a silicone and vinyl doll as stated earlier they dont exist! LDC soft line dolls are made of vinyl with added elastomers. There is no silicone in it. The vinyl is more squishy and feels like silicone because of the elastomers. Im not stating I know everything but I did do my research on this matter before deciding to get my Lovelyn. My friend I mentioned earlier brought her lovelyn so that she could bath a baby, I told her you shouldnt submerge silicones in the bath never mind lovelyn who has metal and cardboard in her connectors! Anyway she told me I was wrong, her doll was silicone vinyl and she could bath her, I think its disgusting that people who are uneducated on this topic are being ripped off!
