Hi everyone. Im taking a stab in the dark asking this here. Im writing a short film script, a period piece set in early 1960s suburbia. I was wondering if anybody who might have been going through secondary education around that time might be able to help me out with this. In 1958-1963 if you were in middle school, what classes would you take (literature-wise) and what texts were you being made to study. I only ask because its not the same now (obviously) - for example I heard that Virginia Woolf wasnt really in vogue around that time. Also Kate Chopin was only being widely discovered in the Feminist Second Wave apparently so that wouldnt have been taught Im guessing. So yeah in about 1958-1963 What was there by way of english subjects? What texts did you study?
